My God i.e 7.0

October 24, 2006

Its the next generation browser and its very likely to make a designers and integrators job even more difficult.  I was one of the first guys to try out the beta i.e 7.0, with the amazing tabbing funda, search and others it was novel choice.

With increasedbrowsing i started seeing problems on many sites, to start with on adobe.com i saw menu’s not working well. i wrote them a feedback mentioning the flaw. It looked all rosy till i got a similar job to fix sites for i.e 7.0 compatibility for a major banking company, the problem was i din’t know where to look. I checked all the lists and found few information on fixes rather most heralding the arrival.

ie 7.0 and firefox comparison

Now here’s my wordpress blog and since i.e is failing you really don’t know where to look for the problems. Earlier anything that worked on mozilla was good enough for Microsoft.

Microsoft states that i.e 7.0 will work in quirks mode for pages that don’t have strict doc style declared, which means it’s backward compatible. quite suprisingly it doesnt seem so. Maybe we are in for more trouble – since users (like me) prefer the later version.
